Future Fund

The Twelve Step House is organized as a 501(c) entity that has, since 1949, provided a sober, clean and safe environment for meetings, and activities for the recovery communities in Broward County. The Twelve Step House is not affiliated with any 12 step programs but provides the rooms and facilities for nominal rents paid by the groups that meet in its facilities from their own members voluntary contributions. Individual contributions from meeting attendees are collected by the various groups’ members passing baskets to cover their own expenses. These contributions are always optional and never a requirement for those attending meetings. While the vast majority of the meetings held at the Twelve Step House are comprised of recovering alcoholics and addicts it is available to other recovery groups including Gamblers Anonymous and Overeaters Anonymous to name but two. Open meetings may be attended by anyone while closed meetings are restricted to those persons that self-identify as qualified for that particular recovery program.

For the last 75 years The Twelve Step House has been open for 365 days a year, including all holidays, for people seeking recovery. Currently there are approximately 59 different one-hour meetings per week at The Twelve Step House representing 16 different 12 step fellowships. A list of the meetings scheduled at the Twelve Step House is available for anyone seeking recovery, and all are welcome. There is also a snack bar where people can purchase coffee, water or food at reasonable prices.

The Twelve Step House serves the people of Broward County that need help the most and that can afford it the least: the sick and suffering alcoholic and addict. The Twelve Step House has always been an important part of our recovery community and the goal is to ensure it continues provide this safe space in the future.

The goal is to prepare The Twelve Step House to be ready to serve the community in the future as it has for the last 75 years.
